AI-era legal pricing...has the conversation stalled?

The 3 ‘P’s of legal AI are everywhere – Press releases, Partnerships, and Products – but what about the fourth, arguably most important one…Pricing?

As part of a wider client listening exercise I am speaking with GCs, in-house counsel, business leaders, and legal ops teams  across sectors and regions to understand how clients think legal services should be priced in the era of AI. I'd really value your perspective.

There is a growing sense that the conversation around value and pricing has stalled. Many firms are struggling to break free from ingrained, traditional pricing models, while in-house teams increasingly want clarity on the value delivered when AI is used in legal work.

Value pricing, AI metering, outcome-based fees…are firms actually having these conversations with you? And if they are, do those approaches align with what matters most to you?

This short, anonymous survey explores:

·        Whether firms are discussing AI and pricing

·        Which pricing models are emerging

·        What outcomes clients value most when AI is used

·        Who should benefit from AI-driven productivity gains

If you are responsible for instructing lawyers or managing legal spend, we'd be very grateful for your input.

We'll share the findings in a report later this year, and participants can request an advance copy.
